Starting Strong

Embarking on a new activity can be both exciting and a bit nerve-wracking, especially when it comes to your first BJJ class. Rest assured, we're here to guide you through the initial steps of this thrilling journey.

Punctuality

Plan to arrive at the gym approximately 15 minutes before your class starts. This allows you ample time to introduce yourself to the coach and fellow participants. Being punctual ensures you don't miss the beginning of the class and avoids disruption once it's underway.

Hygiene

Hygiene is paramount in Jiu-Jitsu, given its nature as a contact sport. Consider taking a shower before class, apply deodorant, and maintain good oral hygiene. It's essential to wear clean clothes, and since you'll be working barefoot on the mat, always wear slippers when stepping outside the mat area or entering the bathroom. Keeping fingernails and toenails trimmed is crucial to prevent injuries.

Dress Code

Opt for clothing without pockets or zippers. Leggings, shorts, and comfortable training attire are recommended, and rashguards can be an excellent choice. While a kimono is not required for the first class, it's important to tie long hair with rubber bands (avoiding bobby pins or metal objects). Remove earrings, piercings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets.

Water

Bring your water bottle to stay hydrated before, during and after your workout.

As you start Jiu-Jitsu, you'll find it's a lifelong journey that empowers you to overcome challenges. In Jiu-Jitsu, everyone can triumph, no matter the size of the challenge!

So, are you prepared to embrace growth and progress in Jiu-Jitsu? Get ready for an incredible journey!
